The Independence Cup Classic™ (ICC) is a special, invitation-only, over 40, ice hockey tournament held each year in West Chester, Pennsylvania. The tournament is founded on the spirit of sportsmanship and camaraderie within the game of ice hockey. It's a time dedicated to friends getting together enjoying time on and off the ice - a time for laughing at each other and ourselves in a relaxed environment where the winners are proud to have accomplished success, but never at the cost of embarrassing their opponent.
2012 will mark our fourth Independence Cup Classic. Once again the size of the ICC will grow, as more teams have caught the ICC bug! Each year, the Independence Cup Classic™ is committed to giving back to the community. All teams who enrol in the 2012 Independence Cup Classic will be asked to name a charity of their choice (it must be a legitimate charitable organization and approved by the ICC Management Team). Each team will be asked to solicit contributions prior to the tournament. A portion of the Tournament proceeds will be given the Tournament Champions' charities. Additionally, all proceeds from items auctioned off at the Saturday evening tent party will go the Champions' charities. In 2011, our named charities received a combined $3,200 from the ICC. Our goal in 2012 is to excedd $5,000 in total contributions. As June 2012 will arrive in the blink of an eye, start thinking of the organization you'd like your team to skate for.
We look forward to another successful tournament.
It's always a great day for hockey.
